On the morning of November 6, hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, "The Future of Global New Energy Vehicles" sub-forum of 7th Hongqiao International Economic Forum was held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy China International Trade Representative Ling Ji and Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology Xiong Jijun attended the forum and delivered speeches. Ling said that new energy vehicles are not only an emerging industry, but also a landmark green product, which is an important tool and carrier to cope with global climate change and achieve green and low-carbon transformation. The development and technological progress of the new energy vehicle industry are inseparable from international cooperation. China will adhere to openness and cooperation, and encourage international cooperation in the industrial chain and supply chain of new energy vehicles.

Xiong Jijun pointed out that the rapid development of China's automobile industry, especially the new energy automobile industry in recent years, is the result of conforming to the law of industrial development and persisting technological innovation, and the result of adhering to the worldwide division and cooperation, mutual promotion and mutual progress. In the keynote speech session, the speakers respectively analyzed the standards formulation and international trade, deep-level international economic cooperation, and automobile intelligent network technology and its trend. Philippe Metzger said that international standards and certification assessments play an important role in improving production efficiency and international trade. The work of the International Electrotechnical Commission covers all aspects of vehicle electrification technology, enabling global participation in electrification. “We are constantly now debating problems of car sales, tariffs, oversupply and overcapacity, however, the fundamental thing is actually to think about economic cooperation in creating green mobility,” Liew Chin Tong said in the video speech. Countries can break through traditional trade and investment relations, work together to build better climate and a better world, so that we can create deeper economic cooperation that go beyond trade and investment. Li Keqiang believes that the new energy automobile industry is currently in the window period of change. The "three power system" with battery, motor and electronic control system as its core promotes the ecological restructuring of the automobile industry and generates new opportunities. Intelligent network integration has become the core of future automotive product diversified competition. The development of intelligent network connected vehicles is the general trend of the automotive industry transformation.
A panel discussion was held at the forum.
During the panel discussion, Ralph Osa, Yin Tongyue, Lian Yubo, Sam Wu, Christian Thomsen and other panellists conducted in-depth exchanges on hot technical issues such as power battery technology development, AD improvement and vehicle-road-cloud integration. They exchanged views on cutting-edge issues such as the recycling of new energy vehicle batteries and other components, and full life cycle carbon emission management. From different perspectives of international organizations and multinational corporations, they discussed topics such as joint discussion on international standards for new energy vehicles and technology sharing, free trade and market competition, and a broad consensus was reached on openness, inclusiveness, mutual empowerment and coordinated development.
Relevant departments of the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Beijing, Shanghai, Anhui and CSGC, Chang'an, Dongfeng Motor, Voyah, Qualcomm, Huawei, Tuhu and other vehicle and supply chain enterprises, exhibitors in the auto exhibition of CIIE, representatives from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, attended the forum.
"The Future of Global New Energy Vehicles" sub-forum also organized a special tour in the auto exhibition of CIIE and a closed-door meeting on related topics.
